Partygoers Injured in Charter Bus Accident on US HWY 101

A charter bus crashed on the Southbound Highway 101 earlier this month, injuring dozens of partygoers. As a result of this catastrophic crash, first responders had to close 3 lanes of the highway near Cesar Chavez. During this time patients were treated and engineers were able to properly assess the damage. With 29 passengers on board, CHP officials were able to determine the bus hit the center median wall and rebounded on the right side of the southbound 101 freeway.

Right around 8 P.M., ambulances quickly arrived at the scene. The bus was operated by Charter Brothers, and up to 60 firefighters and paramedics arrived to assess the scene. The range of serious injuries includes anywhere from 4 to 6 people. First responders cut a hole through the brick separating the 101 to Vermont Street. The accident prompted the San Francisco Fire Department to call a red alert for all nearby hospitals, so they would be ready to accept ambulances of people who had to be carted and escorted out of the wreckage.

The driver was not impaired, and the cause of the accident has not yet been determined. The 101 freeway has since been reopened.
